You're Sew Sweet!

Happy Tuesday everyone. Today is my beautiful Mom's Birthday!! To celebrate her day we're having dinner at my house. Lasagna, salad and garlic bread are on the menu, along with banana split ice cream cake!!! Doesn't that just sound YUMMY?:):):) I'll have to post a pic of the cake later:)

Now, on to Mom's card! She is a fabulous quilter, and has sewn all of her life. So this wonderful Crafty Cuppie stamp set was  a no brainer! Isn't this just too cute? The basket of thread and the pin cushion with the needle and thread in it, oh I just LOVE it:):)

I used TESC94 for this layout, along with Taylor's new card kits! It's so nice to have everything cut for you:):) Love that for a change! I used one of my new Frameabellies to "frame" my cute seamstress cuppie:) Copics to color and a Kaiser pearl as the perfect cherry.

Check out my new handmade polymer clay heart button! That was a fun one to make:) Hearts just make me happy:)

I also added stitching, (cause it's a card for my MOM and I HAD too;):):) and last but not least, I used a snap to accent my "happy birthday" banner! A fun change instead of an eyelet!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I have some exciting plans for the Button Boutique coming in the new year and will share them as soon as I can! Happy Holidays everyone! May you not be too stressed, and get lots of creative time:):)

Life Is Just A Bowl Full Of Cherries!

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday:) I made this card for the TESC92 .  My clay was calling me and the creative forces were at work! I am super excited to share with you my new creation "Frameabellies"!!!! I wanted something unique to add to my new Etsy boutique, and it needed to be good! These frames are handmade by me,  from polymer clay and designed to coordinate with nesties!!!! I will be posting them soon for sale, so let me know what you think!!!

I also made the "smile" button to go with this awesome new paper, (from my Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients Kit!) I used my copics to color the Rainer cherries, which by the way are my favorite type of cherries:):) My husband said they look like peaches:):), oh well......
And last but not least, I added some stitches to the panels.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Happy Creating!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow, another Thanksgiving come and gone:) Time is just flying... I hope you all had a wonderful day with family and friends, ate lots of good comfort food, and simply feel truly thankful! We enjoyed a huge feast and reminisced about life and good times..... A truly good day:):) I am sooo very thankful for my soulmate hubby, and two sweet children!

I don't have a card, or a scrap page to share, but I did make more buttons:):) Hopefully, tomorrow I'll get some time to stamp:) After we decorate for Christmas, that is:):):)

Making these buttons got me in the Christmas spirit!!! Thanks for looking, and your comments, they mean so much:)

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Courage

Oh my! Lightning is going to strike me....not only 2 posts in one day, but I am playing in 2 sketch challenges!!! That's a huge honkin deal for me:) My blogger friends who post daily, I truly envy you and your stamina:):) This is soo fun, and sooo time consuming!:):) I was waiting for my little one to go down for his nap, and then began photographing like the papparazzi:):)LOL, and typing as fast as I can to get this done before he wakes up! So without further ado, here is the sketch, from http://iheart2stamp.com/ and here is my take:

I LOVE, LOVE all thing s vintage, and have a hard time doing anything else! So I just embraced it. This sentiment is special to me, we have to believe in ourselves and our abilites, and just go with it! These background stamps are from Ellen Hutson, I just got them and can't for the life of me remember their names...one is vintage text, I think, and the other is art nouveau, I don't know.....That's the only bad thing about unmounted stamps that don't come with a labeled index card. Anyhoo, back to the deets:) The main sentiment is a old rub-on from my stash, that I enhanced with my copics, the flower and leaves are Prima, the bottom panel uses part of a masked stencil image. (I did all that work, and you can't even tell:) The stencil is from Tim Holtz, and I created the masking with Shimmer Spritz. I even used Shimmerz paint "Angel Wings" to go over the rub-on to give it some glitz, (darn, it doesn't show up in the pic). The ruffled ribbon is from my stash, and it's sewn down with one of my favorite stitches. The pearl was bright white, (a little too bright), so I used my copic marker, and blender pen to tone it down and antique it! Thank you so much for stopping by:)

And to all my fellow Edward fans...... 2 MORE DAYS!!! WAHOOOOOOOO:):)

My daughter and I have tickets for the 12:25 showing on THURSDAY!!! Yippeee:):):)

Happy Fall Ya'll!

Ok, I made it in time for another one of Taylored Expressions sketch challenges! Here is the sketch, then my take. I always seem to remember it when it's too late, but not this time:):) The paper is from her Key Ingredients October kit. Can you see the print that inspired me to make a button to match??? When I said everywhere I look I'm seeing buttons.......:):):) I mean it:) After 30 minutes of trying to decide on a focal inage, I gave up and the button won:) I think it worked out nicely, and the super duper quote is from TE's "A Year of Sentiments"! I went back to my roots with the sewing again, and used a blanket stitch. And my new cool technique (that I learned from my friend Jodi) to sponge on the circle while the nestie is still in place!!! Love that tip:):) Thank you Jodi! And lastly I added misc brads from my stash to accent the corner! Thanks for stopping by:)
Supplies used: stamps: Taylored Expressions "A Year of Sentiments",TE"s October KI kit, circle nesties,
Inkspelled handcrafted polymer clay button:):), Ricky Tims Razzle Dazzle thread, king tut varriegated thread, misc brads from my stash!!

Thanks again for looking, and for leaving comments:)

Happy Creating!

Garden Whimsey Buttons!

Ok, here is the set I was talking about earlier! On our retreat weekend we stopped for lunch at the wonderful little restaurant called "Pie In The Sky". They had the best bumbleberry pie I HAVE EVER EATEN!!! YUM! It had four or five different types of berries and the crust was INCREDIBLE!!! I will most definately go back:):) Anyway, while inhaling my pie, I noticed this cool painting on the wall with these orange and yellow roses, and that it what inspired these babies!!! Thanks for looking:) Ya'll have a great night!

Loooovvve me some silver and blue, with a dash of red! Mom and I went on a quilting retreat this past weekend
on Lake Conroe! Everyone, but me was quilting away, I made BUTTONS:):):)

It's been years since I've been able to go, and so good to catch up with everyone:) These ladies are so uber talented!!! To just be surrounded by such talent is a huge dose of inspiration!!! I designed this button set from a swatch of fabric from my friend Mary's stash!!!! And will post some soon that were inspired from a painting that was in our lunch restaurant!

Have you noticed my new bog look? What do you think? Leave me some feedback in the comments or in the new chat box! Mom and I have decided to try our hand at an Etsy store. She will create handmade, handsewn embellishments, and I'll create buttons!! If you havn't ever shopped Etsy, check it out! We love the idea of supporting other artisans! My first Sketch Challenge!

What fun it is to use a sketch!! I guess everyone else has been on this bandwagon for a while now, but this is new to me and SUPER cool!! It's like sewing with a pattern, or taking a trip with a map!!! Anyhoo, I had a blast making this card for my sweetie! This is the first time for me to play with my new Copic markers, and my new Taylored Expressions stamp set so what better way to break them in than using Taylors new sketch TESC87!

I used her Wings of Joy stamp set, and colored the birds and cage with copics. I stitched this yummy razzle dazzle thread in gold around the edges. This thread is sooo thick it has to go in the bobbin, so I had to sew this together upside down:):):)

And the piece de resistance, is my very own homemade polymer clay button! I just love how it adds vintage bling:) Can't wait to make more of these babies, I know I'll be sticking them everywhere:) Thanks for looking;)
Please excuse my blurry pics, I haven't figured out what's up with my camera.......

If you haven't tried a sketch......just go for it:):)

I went to a Demonstrator only retreat for a fun-filled weekend of stamping and friends!!! Sound good to you, well maybe next year you can join us:) All you have to do is join this crazy team of Inkspelled addicts:):) Just let me know, I'd love to have you on my team!!!
Anyhoo, back to the layouts!!! I was dying to use the new designer paper Autum Meadows!! Last years trip to the pumpkin patch pics were just crying for this fab paper!!! This first lo is of my beautiful dd and dh! I used my favorite scrapping tool, my sewing machine!!! Here are some close-ups!

I'm not sure what's up with my camera, but my pics used to be better...hmm gotta figure that out. I had a blast on this layout! The Medallion stamp set in the upper right hand corner just makes this lo, and I even used one of my very own handmade polymer clay buttons!!
Tips: Scrap to your favorite music:):) and just let go, trust yourself! You cannot make a mistake!! There are no rules.....just have fun!!!!
Supplies used: Medallion background stamp #115223, Autumn Meadows Designer series paper # 116796, Favorite Things stamp set # 115436, Holiday Best hostess set, Falling Leaves stamp set, (on the twill tape) #115368, Twill Tape #105245, Linen Thread # 104199, Modern Label Punch (this punch is a must have!!) #116630, chocolate chip taffeta ribbon #109065, gold embossing pwder #109129, versamark ink #102283, vintage brads #109109. Polymer Clay Play!

Hi everyone! I hope you all have had tons of creative play time!!!! Because I suuuureeee have:):) Sorry I have been a bad blogger, it's been "hair on fiire crazy" around here! Which is a good thing:):) I've been teaching private classes on my tile and mini album! And have another still this Sunday. Anyhoo, now on to today's project! If you have never played with poymer clay, it's pretty darn cool I must say! I made my own buttons and faux metal tag! All supplies used are Stampin Up except for the clay, (which was white in color)!

Here are my very first buttons!Pretty cool eh? Here are the steps:
  • Roll out white clay with a roller, or a pasta machine to an even thickness on parchment paper
  • I used a spool of thread to cut out the buttons, (guittermann thread to be exact:) in cookie cutter fashion

  • Use your embossing buddy to pat the back of your stamp with powder, this keeps the clay from sticking to your stamp!! (It makes your stamp have white powder on the back, but don't worry, it washes right off!!)

  • Stamp your buttons, I used the En Francis background stamp #109521 pg. 134. Practice on a extra piece to determine the right amount of pressure. If you press too hard, you'll flatten your button too much, not hard enough, and you won't get the image.

  • Bake in oven per directions on your clay package, I used premo by sculpy. Hardens in oven at 275 degrees for 30 min per 1/4 inch thickness. (So I baked my for 15 min, on a piece of parchment paper in an oven safe pan.)

  • Once buttons cool, then I rubbed them down with chocolate chip ink, old olive ink, and ruby red ink. I used my fingers and tried really hard to get most of the ink into the stamped impression. Going for that awesome vintage look!!

  • Now I wanted them shiny!!! So, I simply dropped the button facedown on the versamark ink pad to coat the topside, and then dropped it into clear embossing powder!!! Used my heat tool and Voila!!!!! My very own shiny buttons!!!! I know Stampin Up carries lovely buttons, but we don't have them in every color and with this technique, you can coordinate your handmade embellishements with the stamped images on your card, or scrapped page!!!! LOOVVe it!!!

Now for the piece de resistance! My favorite deisgner label hardware tag!!!! I created this in the same fashion as the buttons, I just used the hardward as a cooking cutter and then stamped it with the "for you" sentiment from the Great Friend stamp set! #113792 pg. 107, and then painted it with our AWESOME new Platinum Shimmer Paint in the holiday mini!! #116807 pg. 27! If you haven't tried this paint, you must, it simply rocks!!! It's very opaque and looks like metal!!!! I just baked this shape and painted it, no need to emboss it!!! What do you guys think about this pfoject? Let me know under the comments underneath this post! Would you like a how-to video???? Have a great day my friends! I've got tons of projects to upload!!! See you soon!

Creating with my new goodies!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good Monday! Here in the US we celebrated Labor Day, my dear hubby grilled mouth-watering ribs and bacon wrapped pork tenderloins! Dear daughter and I made homemade potato salad, oh yeah, it was YUMMMYYYY:):) I even had time to create in my stamp room. This week my parents celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary, so I HAD to get time in my room to make them a card:):):)

I loved getting to play with some of my new goodies! I used the new paint found in the holiday mini, played with a new technique using the clear window sheets with our texture plate. That was fun, it came out really cool I think. After I ran the clear window sheet through the big shot with the top note bigz die, I ran it through again with the perfect details texture plate. I then rubbed some black stazon ink over the embossing to make it stand out! I will definitely be doing this again!!! Thanks for looking!
Recipe:

Finial Press embossing folder #115964
Top Note bigz die #113463
Perfect details texture plate #115962
Hodgepodge hardware #112454
clear window sheets # 114323
Stamps: Charming #116519
En Francis #109521
Great friend #113792
Sanded #113792
Ink: black stazon, bordering blue
Paper: whisper white, kraft

Vintage Ornament Christmas Tile!

Hi friends! I am super excited to share with you this AWESOME Christmas tile!! This idea is cased from my favorite SU designer Kimberly Van Diepen. It is simply an .88 cent tile from my local hardware store decorated with our Vintage ornaments stencils, craft ink and stencil paste!!!
Of course it's not a project without some ribbon and bling! And the gorgeous hat pin is from the "pretties kit"!!! Love this kit, it has pearls and beads and flowers in it, so you can create your own hat pin. This tile was soooo very easy to make! What a fabulous gift to give!!!
Here are the supplies used, they can be found on my website:)
Vintage ornaments 1 stencils #117580
craft ink chocolate chip #101816
glassy glaze enamel #100477
1 1/4 chocolate chip striped grosgrain ribbon #115617
pretties kit #109114
dazzling diamonds glitter #102023
antique brass jumbo eyelets #108431
very vanilla cardstock for the tag
Christmas Greetings stampset #115448
The stencil paste you can get at your local craft store! The one I use is called "stencil paste" (go figure) made by stencil ease! I will be filming a video soon with the how to!! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! Thanks for stopping by:)

When I was school clothes shopping with Brenah, I got sooo in the mood for fall! I am ready for boots and sweaters, yum, yum! Enough of this blistering heat! This card was CASED from one of my favorite designers, Kimberly Van Diepen, but changed a bit to make it my own! There is soo much texture going on, and is so very elegant! The colors are Kraft and Bashful blue! The background stamp is Bella Toile, (love that one!) And the embossing in done using the finial press embossing folder. The sentiment "thanks" is using our embosslit! (Isn't this so darn pretty?)

On this yummy card! I used 2 of the fabulous new in-colors, Bermuda Bay, and Soft Suede! The stamps set is Circle Circus!!! And the cute polka dot ribbon is our Bermuda Bay!! I just love how everything coordinates so well!!! Thanks for looking, ya"ll have a super duper day:)
